Forget about the Sharks and the Jets. That’s so West Side. Join the Harrison Center and I-AD in celebrating the East Side Story, Friday, January 6 from 6 to 9pm – from the work of amazing eastside artists, to the neighborhood revitalization being accelerated by the Super Bowl Legacy Project.
The Harrison Gallery will feature HCA artist and Little Flower resident, Susan Hodgin. In Gallery No. 2, Arsenal Tech Retrospective, the art of Arsenal Tech students and teachers from 1912-2012, will commemorate the school’s 100th anniversary. This exhibit will include work by Frederick Polley, Elizabeth Jaspers, Evelynne Mess Daily, Ralph Craig, Robert Craig, Sarah Foresman Bard, Bill Peet, Oakley Richey, John Bernhardt, Edmund Scildkneckt, Georgia Krause and more. The City Gallery and Gallery Annex will feature work from a variety of eastside residents/artists including Brent Aldrich, Jonathan Frey, Kathryn Dart, Karyl Boring, Tim Harmon, Carla Knopp and Kay Grimm. Joan Hostetler of Heritage Photo & Research Services will present a history of the near eastside and a reinterpretation of the Feast of Lanterns will transform the gymnasium. Food truck favorite, Duos, will be parked in their usual First Friday spot, in front of the Harrison Center serving their delicious “slow food fast”.
In the City Gallery, representatives from I-AD (Indy-east Asset Development) will be on hand to talk about the variety of housing opportunities currently available in the neighborhoods of the city’s near eastside, including St. Clair Place, Englewood and others.
Also that night, in Hank & Dolly’s Gallery – Outside the Printed Image – work by Herron School of Art + Design students Brian Gonzales, Stephanie Barlow, Brittany Ferguson, Dominic Senibaldi and Rob Woolley.
